Peeling…healing…skin

So there is not much to update right now because I am just recovering waiting for my blood counts to come up. My WBC have finally come up to 1.3 on its own (although still low for any normal person). It is exciting to see these numbers come up. My platelets have still been low so I get blood transfusions and platelet transfusions every other day. My blood sugar is coming down but I still have to watch what I eat and get insulin every day.

My peeling, healing hands...

My peeling, healing hands...

My skin is getting a little better. My entire body looks like I had measles/chicken pox. Parts of my arms the skins pealing….like round bubbles. It is a little weird but all I can do is continue to put lotion on. I asked my Dr how long it would take for all these spots to go away and he said it could take weeks. But you can see an improvement starting from my head going down. I can’t wait for these spots to go away so I can walk the halls of the hospital without my hood hiding my face. I am afraid that I am going to scare people and they will avoid me because they will catch what I have……but really it’s just my skin. I hope everyone is using sunblock in this hot summer heat to protect their skin.

Also Thank you to Diep Tran for writing an article for the OC weekly Newspaper about my story and the need for more bone marrow donors. The article can be found HERE.

    Hey Matthew,

I’m sorry to hear about your donor. Stay strong and we will keep trying our best to find you a donor. We registered over 2000 donors during Marian Days Festival who are not on the registry yet, so hopefully the Miracle that we were praying for comes true :)

    Hi Matthew,

I, along with all of Team Haupt, have you in our thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery, a good response to the chemo, and a successful transplant. I can’t imagine what you must be going through knowing that the person that was a potential match is withdrawn from the registry. Try to focus on the positive as much as possible - as hard as that may be. Know that many people are thinking of you and hoping for the best.

    Best,
    Lynne
